Jakarta, 25 March 2025 - The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI/Indonesia Eximbank) affirms its commitment to encourage the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry to be competitive in the global market through the National Interest Account (NIA) for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.

Throughout 2024 and until January 2025, LPEI has distributed financing up to a limit of IDR 524 billion to pharmaceutical export players to strengthen strategic industries and increase the competitiveness of Indonesian pharmaceutical products in the international market. Through NIA Pharmaceuticals, LPEI supports exporting pharmaceutical industries such as vaccines, medicines, and medical equipment such as syringes.

"The NIA Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Program is a real manifestation of the state's presence to increase the competitiveness of the local industry so that it can compete with other countries and increase Indonesian exports. Thus, the NIA Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Industry is a concrete step in increasing the independence of the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry," said Plt. LPEI Business Development Executive Director, Maqin U. Norhadi.

Throughout 2024, LPEI has distributed NIA Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices facilities to several companies, such as exporting working capital credit facilities to BUMN Pharmaceuticals to produce vaccines and export to more than 160 countries.

In addition, LPEI has also provided NIA Pharmaceutical facilities to one of the Indonesian pharmaceutical companies at the end of December 2024 for the planned export market expansion in Asia, Africa, North America, and Australia in the form of drug exports.

In early 2025, LPEI again showed its support by distributing export working capital credit facilities and investment credit to syringe manufacturers, which will be used for constructing production facilities, strengthening working capital, and operational support in Cikarang. The factory will become the centre of export production of syringe products for export to more than 30 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the United States.

Data from the Ministry of Industry shows the great potential of the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry. The export value of the Indonesian pharmaceutical and natural medicine industry reached USD 639.42 million (around IDR 9.9 trillion) from January to September 2024. This figure shows significant growth and great opportunities for international market expansion. The Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices NIA is designed to harness this potential and drive further growth.

"NIA program is a government program with LPEI that encourages national exports and is a form of Indonesian economic diplomacy abroad. LPEI is committed to continuing to support the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia so that it can contribute more to the national economy and improve people's welfare," concluded Maqin.
