Jakarta, June 8, 2023 - Collaboration between government institutions through the Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia (LPEI)/ Indonesia Eximbank as the Special Mission Vehicle of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Trade Attaché of Canberra, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, has successfully facilitated 10 SME partners of LPEI to penetrate the Australian export market, marked by a joint export release event at Gudang Bambu, Bantul, Yogyakarta (May 31).

The release of one container of furniture, handicrafts, textiles, and home decor products was attended by representatives from LPEI (Prayudha Utama, Head of Consulting Services Department), Trade Attaché of Canberra - Agung Haris Setiawan, and Founder of Indonesia Direct - Biyp Mukhsen Assegaf.

"The export release to Australia this time also has a special mission, which is to bring Indonesian SME players who have gone through the curation stage to participate in the prestigious International furniture and home décor exhibition, Global Sourcing Expo, in July," said Haris.

The curation criteria applied to the SME partners include: 1) operating in the furniture, handicrafts, textiles, and home decor industries, 2) having product certifications such as the Timber Legality Verification System (SLVK), 3) having the ability to market products, 4) specifications and requirements that match the demands of potential buyers in the target export destination.

The ten LPEI partner SMEs that have successfully gone through the curation stage are PT Dekorasi Cipta Indonesia, CV Furniwell Calistaprima, Mebel Anak, PT Astana Wira Karya, CV Kirana Cipta Lestari, CV Ya Sukses Kita Indonesia, PT Kayu Lima Group, CV Xhaka Art, Aninda Furniture, and CV Dollar Furniture.

On a separate occasion, R. Gerald Setiawan Grisanto, Head of Consulting Services Division at LPEI, explained that this collaboration is one of LPEI's commitments to fulfill its role as a facilitator and aggregator to help SME players overcome export barriers.

"This success is the result of the business matching activities carried out by LPEI with the Trade Attaché of Canberra in May, which aimed to connect business players with potential buyers, especially in Australia. The collaboration established in this Joint Export Program, in addition to expanding market access, is also expected to assist SME players in overcoming export barriers," explained Gerald.

LPEI has a new export incubation program called the Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE) since 2015, with the aim of creating new exporters. The CPNE program has been attended by 3,148 business players from various cities in Indonesia and has created 179 new exporters.

The Trade Attaché of Canberra expressed appreciation to LPEI, stating, "We highly appreciate the support provided by LPEI, which consistently supports activities like this. We hope this collaboration can continue and more local products can penetrate the Australian market," said Haris in his closing remarks.
